Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake 2 1/4 cp flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 cup sugar 2/3 cup shortening or butter 3 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup cocoa 1 cp water or beer 1/2-2/3 cup sauerkraut (Chopped, rinsed & drained) Cream together sugar & shortening. Add eggs, mix well, then add vanilla, salt & cocoa. Sift together flour, baking soda, & baking powder. Alternating, add flour mixture & water. Fold in kraut by hand. Bake in greased & floured pan for 35-45min (375). Makes 9x13 or 2 round cake pans. Frost with cream cheese icing.
