Decide what you want it to look like (ex. do you want it to flash different text, or just have the blinkie around the outside). I like to keep one PSP file with all the layers and then open other ones for the actual animation. Be sure to keep your layer pallete open during all of this...this is where you can see your layer names. (If it's not open, go to View--Palletes--Layers). ~To make the background~ 1. Open a new file that is 150 pixels wide and 20 pixels high. 2. Go to "selection" and click "select all". 3. Go to "selection" and click "modify"--"contract" 4. Set it to contract by 1 pixel. 5. Select your background color or pattern and fill the selected area with the fill tool. 6. Rename that layer "background" (right click the layer in the layer palette and choose "rename") ~To make "blinkie" part~ 1. You should still have the selection that is 1 pixel smaller than the the total object. Go to "selection" and click "invert" 2. Fill that selection with a color similar to the background or whatever you'd like the border color to be. 3. Choose the paintbrush tool (on the side) and make sure it's 1 pixel. 4. Choose a contrasting color (i.e. black) and start at the corner. Paint 2 pixels, then skip 4, and repeat all the way across (to make pixels easy to see, go to "View"--"show grid") . 5. Choose another color that will show up against the background color. Paint 2 pixels with that color so that you have 2 black, one background color, and 2 the second color. 6. Rename that layer "blinkie1". 7. Go to "Layers"--"New Raster Layer", making sure the new layer still has the outside selected. 8. Make it so that you can't see "blinkie1" (click the eyeball button next to the layer name) and paint the same as before, this time switching the colors. (i.e. start with the second color in the corner so that everything that was black before is now the other color) 9. Rename that layer "blinkie2" ~To make text layer~ 1. Pick a font and size (you'll have to experiment to see what works for what you want to do) 2. Rename that layer "text1" (it should be named "vector1" at first) 3. Repeat with new layers if you want it to flash other things. You're done with the "making" part, now to animate it (i.e. make it blinkie...which is what we're here for right ) ANIMATION: Keep the first image open and open two new images with the same dimensions. 1. Click on your original image. From the "Layers" box, drag the "background", "blinkie1" and "text1" layers into the first new image from the original image. 2. Go to Edit and click "copy merged" 3. Open Animation shop and Click Edit--Paste--As new animation. 4. Go back to Paint shop and click on the second new document. Drag "background", "blinkie2" and "text1" into it. 5. Copy merged and go into animation shop and click "edit--paste--after current frame". 6. If you don't want any more text, you're almost done. 7. Click Edit--select all 8. Click Animation--frame properties and set display time for sometime between 10 and 20 (experiment with it until it looks the way you like) 9. If you only want one set of text, you're done. If not, repeat with the other text layers, making sure that each frame has alternating blinkies around it. I usally have 4 frames of each text. Be sure to save it as a .gif file. NOW YOU HAVE A BLINKIE!!--------------------

You make it sound so easy - but I cannot figure this out.

I did, however, learn to make glitter signatures - go me!
